2017 Donelan Nancie Chardonnay as Angelina Jolie

LOOK AT THIS WOMAN WITHOUT MAKEUP. Well, don’t look for too long because shortly after you’ll catch your own reflection and it won’t be a fun comparison. I’m sure you’ve got a great personality though.

I had the great fortune of coming across this Donelan Chardonnay (and you know my love for Chardonnay) and boy does it deliver. It’s complex, it opens up beautifully, and it’s produced just the way it should be. The Chardonnay grape is allowed to shine with this wine and it doesn’t fall victim to heavy handed oak – it was hit with only 20% new French oak.

That’s why this wine as a celeb is none other than Angelina Jolie. Much like Angelina, this wine is a perfect expression of itself. Its bright acidity keeps you coming back for more, and before you know it, your glass (read: bottle) is empty. The producer has shown some serious restraint that allows the wine to sing, like a makeup artist who knew to only use a tinted moisturizer and some mascara on our girl.

With notes of apple, orange, orange blossom, and nutmeg, this wine manages to be refreshing while also warming and would pair beautifully with seafood. I LOVE this Chardonnay – just like if you brought Angelina to a dinner party, people will likely be commenting about this after you leave. But let’s face it, bringing this wine is a slightly more attainable goal.
