If you dream about Champagne and Elle Woods, then we are in the same boat. This beautiful bottle from Michel Gonet is a Grand Cru blanc de blancs, 2011 vintage. What does that even mean? Grand Cru means the grapes come from a designated vineyard of superior quality. "Blanc de blancs" means it's made exclusively from Chardonnay (one of the 3 grape varietals of the Champagne region!). YUM. Between $45-$60 a bottle, depending on where you live, this bottle brings incredible value.
With tasting notes of crisp green apple and buttery toasted bread, you can't go wrong! You also might pick up on some honey and orange creamsicle in this dry, high acid wine. It's 12.5% ABV and scored a whopping 92 on Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Ratings are subjective, of course, but they can give you a nice ballpark when you're picking something out in the store.
That's why if this wine was a celeb it would be Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods. It's effervescent, bubbly, fresh and ends with a superior finish. There's more to this wine than meets the eye, just like Elle. As a law student she was doing the work of an experienced lawyer and that's what you're getting with this wine.
Clear your schedule and enjoy this wine. Preferably with other people, but hey, I'm not one to judge.
